After a number of years of operating a variety of different
safaris to the Kruger National Park area, we have done our
research and have come up with the perfect solution for
travel that incorporates all of the best aspects of a Kruger
National Park Safari.
The first and probably most important aspect that can make
or break your trip is your guide. Many of our guides have
been with us for a number of years and they generally call
the Kruger area ‘home’ as they spend more time there than
they actually do in their own beds. The benefits of having a
guide are that they know the best areas to spot animals and
have incredibly well trained eyesight in the bush. In
addition, you can add their unbelievable knowledge to just
about anything you are likely to come across. They truly are
fantastic companions. Most of our guests leave their Kruger
experiences with fond memories of the new friend they have
made in their guide.
Accessibility to Kruger park tours is the next major factor.
It is possible to fly to the Kruger, but this can work out
to be quite costly, especially if you then have to hire a
car once you are there. It almost always works out at the
same cost or cheaper to go on a group tour with a guide and
in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle where you are
chauffeured around. This is why all of our tours include a
pickup from either OR Tambo International Airport in
Johannesburg or the hotel of your choice in the
Johannesburg/Pretoria area. All Kruger park tours return you
to the same pick-up points. OR Tambo International Airport
in Johannesburg is by far the most accessible airport in
South Africa for most international travellers and we are
perfectly positioned to be able to collect all guests from
this area.
Scheduled Monday departures allow us to bring the costs down
as these tours are run as small groups with a reasonable
number of other travellers from around the world (minimum
two, maximum nine). Our research also showed us that Monday
is the most common day that many travellers choose to start
their tours to the Kruger Park as we have structured all of
our tours around this.
The Kruger National Park covers an enormous expanse of
approximately 20, 000 square kilometres of hot, flat,
lowveld terrain and ranks amongst the finest game
sanctuaries in the world. The Kruger National Park is the
same size as Wales and larger than the state of Hawaii. With
all of this in mind, it can take weeks to explore all
aspects of the different regions of the park. This is
undoubtedly one of the largest safaris in South Africa. We
have therefore broken this down to include the best areas
possible for a three to five day safari and found that
without a doubt the southern reaches will offer the most
abundance of wildlife and the best opportunity to spot the
“Big Five”.
Regarding accommodation, we have based all of our tours at
the fantastic four-star Manyatta Rock Camp, situated within
the Kwa-Madwala Private Game Reserve. While using this lodge
for their fantastic accommodation and unbelievable meals, we
get to explore the Greater Kruger National Park as well as
being able to enjoy the game viewing in open 4x4 safari
vehicles within Kwa-Madwala Private Game Reserve. There are
also a number of optional extra activities that can be done
from Kwa-Madwala such as elephant-back safaris, guided game
walks, and micro light flights over the reserve plus much more.
With all of the above taken into account, you can now see
why plenty of research can be so worthwhile. Unbelievable
guides, comfortable transport, pickup and drop-off in the
most common locations, four-star luxury accommodation, the
best game viewing in the top regions in the Kruger Park and
all of this for a budget price. No other Safari in South
Africa can compete.
